Halleluja!
Ik wil de HEER loven met heel mijn hart in de grote kring van oprechten.
Machtig zijn de werken van de HEER, wie ze liefheeft, onderzoekt ze.
Zijn daden hebben glans en glorie, zijn rechtvaardigheid houdt stand, voor altijd. Hij stelde een gedenkdag in voor zijn wonderen, genadig en liefdevol is de HEER.
Hij gaf voedsel aan wie hem vrezen, eeuwig gedenkt hij zijn verbond. Hij toonde zijn volk de kracht van zijn daden en gaf hun het land van andere volken.
Waarheid en recht zijn het werk van zijn handen, uit al zijn regels blijkt zijn trouw, ze zijn onwrikbaar, voor altijd en eeuwig, gemaakt volgens waarheid en recht.
Hij heeft zijn volk verlossing gebracht, voor eeuwig zijn verbond ingesteld. Heilig en ontzagwekkend is zijn naam. Het begin van wijsheid is ontzag voor de HEER, wie leeft naar zijn wet, getuigt van goed inzicht. Zijn roem houdt stand, voor altijd.

Je luistert naar het Taize-lied Confitemini Domino. ‘Breng dank aan de Heer, want Hij is goed’.
Om het gebed van vandaag binnen te gaan, kan ik me eerst bewust worden van Gods aanwezigheid. Geen God om bang van te zijn, maar een God van mededogen en liefde. In zijn aanwezigheid ben ik veilig. Bij Hem hoef ik mezelf niet te verdedigen. In zijn aanwezigheid kan ik stilvallen.
De lezing van vandaag is Psalm 111.
In het boek Openbaring staat dat God de alfa en de omega is. De eerste en de laatste letter van het Griekse alfabet. Deze psalmist heeft die boodschap heel letterlijk opgevat door het gebed - zoals een huwelijksgedicht - chronologisch van a tot z te schrijven. Kan ik meegaan in die gedachtegang? Dat God in alle processen van het leven aan het werk is? Of zijn er wat moeilijke letters waar ik moeite mee heb dat te geloven?
‘Machtig zijn de werken van de HEER, wie ze liefheeft, onderzoekt ze.’ De psalmist is vastberaden er werk van te maken God te zoeken in alle dingen. Wat doet deze gedachtegang met je? Daagt ze je uit? Als dat zo is, op welke manier? En zo niet, hoe komt dat denk je?
Luister nogmaals naar de lezing en let op hoe vaak er gesproken wordt over Gods werken en daden. Hoe raken deze woorden je?
Misschien wil je nu met de Heer praten over het verbond dat Hij met ons sluit, iedere dag opnieuw. Is er iets dat je van hem wilt vragen?
